"2008 Hong Kong Awards for industries: Machinery and Machine Tools Design" Invites Application Now

The CMA has been the organizer of the Hong Kong Awards for Industry: Machinery and Machine Tools Design competition (formerly known as "Machinery and Equipment Design") since its inception in 1989. Starting from 2005, the Hong Kong Awards for Industry merges with the Hong Kong Awards for Services. The new merged scheme is named the "Hong Kong Awards for Industries". "Hong Kong Awards for industries: Machinery and Machine Tools Design Competition" is organized by the CMA. The competition aims to encourage and upgrade the design and promotion of machinery and machine tools in Hong Kong so as to improve competitiveness and to give recognition to the outstanding achievement. The HKSAR Government takes the lead to coordinate the Competition and it is free of charge to join the Competition. Winners may be permitted to use the logo of Hong Kong Awards and will have chances to promote the winning products. ELIGIBILITY All entries, wholly or substantially designed or developed in Hong Kong in the year prior to the closing date for entries, are eligible to enter the Competition. CATEGORIES Under the Machinery and Machine Tools Design Competition, entries will be divided into six categories: A. Production Machinery / Equipment B. Machine Tools, Device and Add-on Accessory for Production Machinery / Equipment C. Scientific, Measuring, Controlling and Testing Equipment and its Parts and Accessories thereof D. Office Machine / Equipment (including Computers) and Communication Equipment E. Computer Software for Industrial Application F. Miscellaneous AWARDS The most outstanding product among the Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Machinery and Machine Tools Design Award winners will win the HONG KONG AWARDS FOR INDUSTRIES: MACHINERY AND MACHINE TOOLS DESIGN GRAND AWARD. Winner(s) in each category will receive the Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Machinery and Machine Tools Design Award and other outstanding entries will be awarded the Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Machinery and Machine Tools Design Certificates of Merit. JUDGING CRITERIA All entries will be judged according to the following criteria: Innovation Application of technology Functionality Ergonomics Cost-performance Safety Environmental impact Marketability 2008 Hong Kong Awards for industries: Machinery and Machine Tools Design is opened for application now. The deadline of application is 8 August 2008. The presentation ceremony of the 2008 HONG KONG AWARDS FOR INDUSTRIES will be held in early 2009 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
