The 2012 Hong Kong Awards for Industries Press Conference was held at Trade and Industry Department on 5 December. The CMA is the Organiser of the “Machinery and Machine Tools Design” category. 2011 Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Machinery and Machine Tools Design - Result of the Competition

The Association has been organizing the Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Machinery and Machine Tools Design Competition since its inception in 1989. The Competition aims to encourage and upgrade the design and promotion of machinery and machine tools in Hong Kong, so as to improve competitiveness and to give recognition to the outstanding achievements of designers and manufacturers.

Hong Kong Awards for Industries is divided into six categories: “Machinery and Machine Tools Design”, “Consumer Product Design”, “Customer Service”, “Innovation and Creativity”, “Productivity and Quality”, and “Technological Achievement”.

This year, there were 29 entries for the Competition. The judging panel for the competition selected a winner of Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Machinery and Machine Tools Design Grand Award, 2 winners of Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Machinery and Machine Tools Design Award and 7 winners of Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Machinery and Machine Tools Design Certificate of Merit. Chaired by Prof. Lap-Chee Tsui, the judging panel consisted of industrialists, professionals and experts in engineering and product design served in their personal capacity. They assessed the entries by the following criteria: innovation, functionality, ergonomics, cost-performance, application of technology, safety, environmental impact and marketability.

The Presentation Ceremony was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 30 June 2011. The Honourable John Tsang Chun-wah, The Financial Secretary of the HKSAR presented the Grand Award while CMA Vice President Ms Chan Suk Ling, Shirley presented the Machinery and Machine Tools Design Awards and Machinery and Machine Tools Design Certificate of Merit to the winners.
