黃友嘉會長憶述2010年出任廠商會會長期間，特區政府正計劃於2012年實施香港政治制度改革，他認為廠商會及商界作為社會重要的持份者，有責任發揮自身的影響力，為完善香港的政治制度發聲。另一件任內重要的工作，便是改革廠商會會長制度，他主張把任期由2年改為3年，讓每一屆的計劃和項目能有足夠時間去完成。
