CMA 90th Anniversary Celebrations

The Correctional Services Department (CSD) and the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong (CMA) jointly organised a youth musical drama, "Life Revitalisation Go Go Goal!", at Queen Elizabeth Stadium on 26 January. The event aimed to help students develop critical thinking skills and promote the message of law-abiding citizenship. This activity served as the opening project for CMA's 90th anniversary celebrations.

The opening ceremony of the musical theatre was officiated by Mr Cheuk Wing-hing, Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Tang Ping-keung,  Secretary for Security, Dr Wingco Lo, CMA President, and Mr Mr Wong Kwok Hing, Commissioner of Correctional Services. The event attracted over 2,000 attendees, including teachers and students from 27 schools, principals, members of parent-teacher associations, social workers, members of the Fight Crime Committee, and various community partners.

CMA President Dr Wingco Lo stated that a harmonious and stable society is crucial for business. Therefore, the CMA and the CSD have been working closely for years on crime prevention, reduction, and rehabilitation efforts. Following the joint production of the musical drama "Own Your Life" in 2021, the CMA has once again allocated HK$900,000 to support the CSD in organizing the "Life Revitalisation Go Go Goal!" musical drama. The aim is to instill awareness of respecting the rule of law and law-abiding behavior among young people while commemorating the CMA's 90th anniversary.

President Lo also mentioned that the CMA has always placed great importance on education and youth development. In the future, the association will invest more resources in youth projects to cultivate positive thinking in the new generation, enhance their understanding of national and global development trends, and provide opportunities for them to fully realise their potential, equipping them to contribute to Hong Kong's future.

The musical was adapted from real-life events and performed by professional actors, student actors, correctional officers, and rehabilitated persons. It tells the story of a young person who was misled during the 2019 violent protests, committed illegal acts, and was subsequently imprisoned before returning to the right path. Through the musical and genuine sharing from rehabilitated individuals, the organisers hope to caution young people against false information on the internet and encourage society and employers to accept and care for rehabilitated persons, jointly building a stable community.

Following this performance, the musical will tour five schools across Hong Kong to spread its message to more students.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Dr Allen Shi, Permanent Honorary President of the CMA; Dr Ma Kai Yum, Executive Vice President of the CMA; Mr Dennis Ng Kwok On, Mr Albert Chuang, and Dr Ellis Wong, Vice Presidents of the CMA; CMA Executive Committee Members and General Committee Members.
