CMA Historical Resource Centre

CMA Historical Resource Centre

The origins of the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA) can be traced to 11 April 1933, when a group of businesses organised the Chinese Manufacturers’ Union to protect and promote business interests. In 1934, the association was officially incorporated and adopted its present name.

Over recent decades, the CMA has been led by numerous distinguished, passionate community leaders who have volunteered their skills and experiences to contribute to society. Through their concerted efforts, the CMA has proven its significance as a bridge between the business community and the government and society. The CMA advocates for its members’ interests and strives to promote the economic and community development of Hong Kong. In addition, the CMA is committed to nurturing talents and helping the disadvantaged.

The CMA takes pride in its long and distinguished history. This resource centre houses a rich archive of photographs, newspaper clippings, research reports, sound recordings and videos. The centre will be a useful resource for anyone interested in learning about the CMA’s contributions to Hong Kong.
