2009年香港經濟受全球金融海嘯沖擊，黃友嘉會長指出當時廠商會發揮了很大作用，其中更成功建議政府推出幫助中小企業周轉融資的計劃。另外，他指出業界對內地勞動合同法的訂立很多方面都有所保留，廠商會代表港商，向內地有關當局反映。他亦提到廠商會對當年特區政府推出競爭法的意見。

施榮懷會長憶述他擔任會長期間，業界正面臨不少挑戰，特別是內地工資不斷上漲、五險一金、保障工人的集體協商條例等勞動法，均帶給在內地經營的港商很大壓力。因此，廠商會便聯同其他友好商會，積極向內地政府發聲，維護港商的合法權益。他又指，廠商會在同仁的努力下，地位和影響力愈來愈備受認同，例如他任內曾率團訪京，獲時任國家副主席李源潮接見，反映中央高度肯定廠商會對香港的貢獻。
