2009年香港經濟受全球金融海嘯沖擊，黃友嘉會長指出當時廠商會發揮了很大作用，其中更成功建議政府推出幫助中小企業周轉融資的計劃。另外，他指出業界對內地勞動合同法的訂立很多方面都有所保留，廠商會代表港商，向內地有關當局反映。他亦提到廠商會對當年特區政府推出競爭法的意見。
