Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo Opens!

The 55th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo (the HKBPE), one of Hong Kong’s biggest outdoor expositions and community events organised by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA), begins today (11 December) at Victoria Park, Causeway Bay and runs through 3 January 2022. A parallel online edition (online.hkbpe.com.hk) is also running until 10 January. Both will cheer you up with month-long festive fun made up of shopping, deals, giveaways and entertainment.

The opening ceremony was held this morning, and was officiated by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR Carrie Lam, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the HKSAR Liu Guangyuan, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR Tan Tieniu, Chief Secretary for Administration John Lee, Secretary for Food and Health Sophia Chan, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Edward Yau, Secretary for Home Affairs Caspar Tsui, Secretary for Security Tang Ping Keung, CMA President Dr Allen Shi and CMA Exhibition Services Limited Chairman cum CMA Vice President Ivan Sze. Nearly 50 guests from the HKSAR Government, representative offices of the Central Government in the HKSAR, supporting organisations and business associations attended the ceremony to witness the highly anticipated return of this extravaganza.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome families and friends back to this fan-favourite expo,” said the CMA President Dr Allen Shi at the ceremony. “Although the HKBPE had been forced to cancel several times over its 83-year history, it is still a must-see highlight of Hong Kong’s year-end celebrations, and has become one of the most popular, the longest-running and the biggest parties in the city. After a tough year none of us will ever forget, we all need a joy – and there’s nothing like the expo to get us into the holiday spirit and make the season unforgettable.”

The expo features over 830 booths, selling food and beverage, kitchenware and home appliances, beauty and healthcare products, apparels and accessories. “Just in time for the shopping season, visitors are sure to find everything they need and want here at a mighty fine discount,” noted by President Shi. Both the physical expo and online expo pull together hundreds of best year-end sales, starting from 45% off, from the most in-demand brands and products. Even bigger and better deals, up to 90% off, can be found during the periods of grand opening, Christmas and New Year day. Artistes Edmond So and Winnie Lau, the promotion ambassadors for this year’s event, will share with fans their top picks and give away free HKBPE tickets on their channels.

In celebration of its 55th staging, the HKBPE will be enchanting Hong Kong people with so many priceless traditions and fun-filled surprises. The biggest highlight is the million dollars promotion “Five Amazing Offers for the 55th HKBPE”. One of the offers is made for the first 1,555 Hong Kong citizens who have pre-registered through official website and fulfill one of the requirements: age 55 (born in 1966), born on 5 May, or have “55” in their identity card number. Prizes or freebies are also offered for the first 550 visitors each day who purchase admission ticket on-site, people who win in the lucky draws, and people who like and share the HKBPE social platforms. Altogether, this year’s expo is handing out $4 million worth of prizes.

That’s not all. To bring festive cheer to visitors of all ages, the expo will be loaded with fun-filled entertainment for the entire family to enjoy together. This includes the Miss Exhibition Pageant, radio shows by Radio Television Hong Kong and Commercial Radio, singing, dance, martial arts and musical performances, and seminars. On 1 January, a kick off ceremony for celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR and the 88th anniversary of the CMA will be staged at the HKBPE to commemorate these two special milestones.

Besides, the HKBPE App has been launched, helping visitors to make the most of the striking expo. The app, which is free to download, allows visitors to view the programme and activity line up and details of special promotions, download coupons and participate in lucky draws.

The expo is committed to the health and safety of the visitors, staff and exhibitors. Most of the staff and workers have been fully vaccinated; otherwise, they are required to undergo testing every 14 days. All visitors need to comply with COVID-19 protocols, including scanning of the “LeaveHomeSafe” venue QR code before entry (people aged 65 or above and 15 or below, people with disabilities, and other people recognised by the government or organisations authorised by the government can fill in a specified form as an alternative to the use of the“LeaveHomeSafe” mobile app) , and no eating and drinking inside the venue.

The expo will be open every day from 11am to 9pm (will close at 8pm on the last day). The admission fee is HK$8. Visitors can pay for admission by Octopus at the entrance or buy e-tickets from Cityline. Senior citizens aged 65 or above, children under 1 metre in height and people with disabilities are eligible for free entry. Fully vaccinated visitors can also enjoy free admission after 6:00pm.
As the HKBPE has benefited from the government’s rental concession measures, the CMA has reduced the exhibitors’ participation fees and the admission ticket price.
The organiser is very grateful for the continued support of the HKSAR government, all of the exhibitors, sponsors, supporting organisations, media friends and Hong Kong citizens.

The CMA office-bearers who attended the grand opening also include Permanent Honorary Presidents Herbert Liang, Chan Wing Kee, Dr Yu Sun Say, Dr David Wong, Irons Sze, Dr Eddy Li and Dr Dennis Ng, Legislative Council Representative The Hon Ng Wing Ka, Executive Vice President Dr Lo Kam Wing, Vice Presidents Simon Wong, Dr Edward Chan, Dennis Ng Kwok On, Dr Ma Kai Yum, Jackson Leung, Calvin Chan and Robert Lok, Honorary Presidents Kenneth Ting, Dr Katherine Ngan, Dr Chiu Chun Bong, and Lui Chun Fan.
