The CMA Hosts the 2025 Hong Kong ESG Awards cum ESG Pledge
Presentation Ceremony
Embracing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices is pivotal for enterprises to build long-term competitiveness and achieve sustainable development. To inspire Hong Kong businesses to further elevate their ESG performance, the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA) hosted the 2025 Hong Kong ESG Awards cum ESG Pledge Presentation Ceremony today (17 October) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The event was graced by the presence of guest-of-honour Mr Michael Wong Wai Lun, Acting Financial Secretary, as well as award presenters Dr Bernard Chan, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development and Mr Arthur Lee Hok Yin, Commissioner for Climate Change of the Environment and Ecology Bureau. During the ceremony, representatives from 23 winning companies were presented with prestigious ESG Awards, while certificates were also awarded to more than 200 participants of this year’s ESG Pledge initiative. The event drew more than 400 attendees, all gathered to witness the growing momentum and achievements of Hong Kong’s business community on the path to sustainability.
In his welcoming remarks, CMA President Dr Wingco Lo highlighted the growing awareness and proactive engagement of local enterprises in ESG practices. He noted a strategic shift from passive compliance to strategic integration, as businesses embrace the transformational opportunities brought by sustainability. He stated, “What’s especially encouraging is that many SMEs have already taken bold steps by developing their own sustainability blueprints. Whether award recipients or ESG Pledge signatories, all have demonstrated the vibrancy of ESG adoption through their diverse and innovative solutions.”
He emphasised that as global sustainability standards evolve and supply chains restructure, ESG has become an essential passport for international market access. Leveraging Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s leading sustainable finance hub, along with its mature ecosystem of professional services, he called for greater synergy between ESG and Hong Kong’s service strengths to establish the city as a regional ESG service hub, supporting Mainland and Asian enterprises in achieving green transformation and global expansion.
The ESG Grand Award, the highest honour of the 2025 Hong Kong ESG Awards, was presented to Lee Kum Kee Company Limited for its innovative Geothermal Heat Pump System at the Xinhui Production Base. The ESG Award was presented to ten companies, including China Resources Enterprise Property Investment Company Limited, Dah Chong Hong Holdings Limited, Fu Hong Society, Hung Fook Tong Group Holdings Limited, Hang Heung Cake Shop Company Limited, REC Engineering Company Limited, Nestlé Hong Kong Limited, Phoenix Media Investment (Holdings) Limited, Shanghai Industrial Holdings Limited, and Shun Tak Holdings Limited.
